Learning to live is an emotional read which will shatter your heart into a million pieces. Ciera's situation will pull at your heartstrings, not only is she faced with a decisions nobody should have to make, but she still has to face the people you taunt her every day.
"Sometimes, you have to be fully broken
in order to piece yourself together again".
Ciera is a strong, lovable character, I loved how she rose above the bully's. But I felt so sorry for her.
I thought Topher (love the name) was an arrogant ass, who was out to destroy Ciera. But once you see a deeper side to him, the real Topher everything changes, you can't help but to love him.
Learning to live is well written, the storyline is easy to follow, but you will need a box of tissues.

Game On by Kyra LennonA note from Kyra: Game On was first published in 2012. In its time, it has been through a heck of a lot of covers, but this is definitely the final one! The reason for this particular change is that back in July this year, the rather beautiful Scott King did a photo shoot for me with the equally stunning Lucy Laming – shot by super snapper Eric Battershell. The chosen photo of Scott and Lucy will be on the cover of the final Game On book – due for release next year. Since Scott King is the perfect Radleigh McCoy, I figured it made sense to have him on the cover for Book One to match! ALSO, the book itself has undergone a bit of a change. There have been a few updates made to the book’s content – and this includes no longer cutting away from the bedroom scenes. It was a mistake I have berated myself for ever since publication that I didn’t include a sex scene. The nature of Leah and Radleigh’s relationship almost demands the bedroom scene to be written in full. I feel like without it, I haven’t been true to the overall tone of passion in the pages of the rest of the story. These updates, and the cover, will be live before Christmas. If you have already bought a copy of Game On – I am hoping with everything I have that Amazon will be kind enough to give you a little update button on your accounts so you can re-download. If not, I will find a way around the issue somehow! The paperback version of Game On will be updated also, but will take a little longer due to needing to order proof copies, etc, as will the audiobook, but that will take quite a while longer as it depends on my narrator's availability. Please keep an eye on my Facebook page for further updates! Thank you! Seventeen-year-old Mercedes Ayres has an open-door policy when it comes to her bedroom, but only if the guy fulfills a specific criteria: he has to be a virgin. Mercedes lets the boys get their awkward, fumbling first times over with, and all she asks in return is that they give their girlfriends the perfect first time- the kind Mercedes never had herself.
Keeping what goes on in her bedroom a secret has been easy- so far. Her absentee mother isn’t home nearly enough to know about Mercedes’ extracurricular activities, and her uber-religious best friend, Angela, won’t even say the word “sex” until she gets married. But Mercedes doesn’t bank on Angela’s boyfriend finding out about her services and wanting a turn- or on Zach, who likes her for who she is instead of what she can do in bed.
When Mercedes’ perfect system falls apart, she has to find a way to salvage her reputation and figure out where her heart really belongs in the process. Funny, smart, and true-to-life, FIRSTS is a one-of-a-kind young adult novel about growing up.

First is a unique and original story and a very enjoyable read. In first's you get to meet Mercedes and see her struggle into adulthood. After something incredibly hurtful and degrading happens to her she comes up with a plan to help others, to be more exact other girls boyfriends.
Mercedes struggles with absent parents and is crying out for attention, but she goes about it in the wrong way. By risking friendship, love and self-dignity. Mercedes will grip your heart strings, I really felt for her.
First is very well written and easy to follow, it's filled with angst and drama. I loved the fact Mercedes came to her senses and realized what was under her nose. I really looking forward to my next read by Laurie Elizabeth Flynn.

Josie Savage has lived in the shadow of her football star father since he acknowledged paternity. After winning an academic scholarship to Montgomery University, she’s hoping 3000 miles will be enough to get out from under his controlling thumb. But the school’s incredibly sexy backup quarterback with a shady background is a distraction she doesn’t need. Worse yet, his starting quarterback roommate has his sights set on Josie. Can a famously publicity shy California girl manage to navigate the attraction of two sexy star athletes?

The synopsis of The Backup looked promising and that's what drew me to read it although the storyline had potential I struggled to connect with the characters.
I loved the idea of Josie breaking away from the shadow of her famous father, but I felt she threw herself straight back into the limelight dating the star quarterback.
I really liked Runner in the beginning, but he became incredibly moody and possessive over the slightest of things.
The Backup is full of drama and angst, it would've been an enjoyable read if only I connected with the characters. Sorry, but The Backup wasn't for me.

“Okay. Open your eyes. What do you think?” I took my hands away and let Em look. This was almost as nerve wracking as asking her to marry me. Back then I was asking her to forget all the crap surrounding me and imagine a better version who’d make something of themselves. I was asking her to take a chance on me. Now I was doing the same with this house.
Tommy was right. It was a shit hole. But when I was done, it would be a palace. A home for the two of us no one could ever take away. I stared at her expression, looking for any sign at all about how she felt.
“I love it,” she whispered, looking up at it in awe. I let out a deep breath I hadn’t realized I’d been holding.
“I know it doesn’t look like much now, but imagine if I cleared out and repaired the front garden, put in new windows and new fencing. Liam and I have gone over this place inch by inch, and the roof is sound. With a bit of hard work, it’ll look great.”
I was rambling now. She’d already agreed to it, so I have no idea why I was giving her the hard sell.
“Can we afford it?” she asked, her eyes full of wonder.
“It’d take all our money and then some. But I’ve worked out a loan with Danny for what we need, and we can pay him back with the rent money we’ll save on our flat. We’ll have to fix it up on a budget but the boys have offered to help with the labor.”
With a squeal, Em threw her arms around my neck and kissed me loudly. “I can’t believe you found this place. It’s going to be amazing! I know I can’t do any building work but I can clean, strip wallpaper, and paint,” she babbled excitedly. “Ooow, we could go and get some paint samples today,” she suggested.
“We haven’t even had an offer accepted yet,” I pointed out with a chuckle.
“I know, but there’s nothing wrong with planning ahead. Can we look inside?”
“Sure. The agent is meeting us in a few minutes to show us around. It’s pretty rough inside, but the rooms are a nice size. You just have to use your imagination.”
“I can do that,” she whispered as she smiled at me adoringly. Her eyes were full of everything I’d felt when I’d first seen the place, and I knew she was imagining our future in a real home of our own.
My heart was so full I felt invincible. The way she was looking at me, you’d think I’d built this place brick by brick myself. I’d spend the rest of the day trailing after her doing whatever she liked just to keep that look. With another squeal, she covered my face in tiny kisses, making me laugh, until a discrete cough sounded behind us.
“Are you here for the viewing?” a skinny kid who looked about my age asked.
“Yes please,” Em answered. She was lit up inside and practically radiated happiness. People couldn’t help but be charmed by her natural warmth, and he was no exception. He smiled broadly at her and with a wink said, “Let’s go and check it out.”
My crossed arms and fierce glare told him that I wouldn’t tolerate another wink, and he got the message as he messed around with the keys nervously. Rolling her eyes, Em pulled on my arms until I uncrossed them and clasped her fingers between mine. She was used to me getting territorial around her but she really had no idea how many hungry looks followed her around.
The agent used his shoulder to push open the front door, past a mountain of junk mail, then fussed about brushing the dirt and paint chips off his suit. The previous owner really had gone to town with a baseball bat, and literally everything would need replacing but it didn’t matter. The more we looked, the more Em fell in love.
By the time we were done, there were stars in her eyes. Having realized that flirting with Em was hazardous to his health, the agent couldn’t get out of there quick enough. He told us to call the office if we wanted to make an offer.
“I’ll be in touch,” I promised him menacingly, mostly just to fuck with him, but he practically wet himself as he hightailed it back to his car. Em was so caught up in the house she didn’t notice. It was going to be a hell of a day.
Q&A with R.J. Prescott
1. What’s the hardest thing about writing from O’Connell’s perspective?
Definitely introducing Heath as a new character. It’s incredibly difficult to describe a hot guy when you’re writing from a male perspective.
2. Finish this sentence: My heroine will never…
…cheat on her man.
3. What scene from THE AFTERMATH was the most fun to write?
I loved writing the final fight scene. With everything that O’Connell has been through, it was wonderful to be able to write about his pure love of boxing and to give him and Em the happy-ever-after they deserve.
4. What’s the last book you read?
Visions of Heat by Nalini Singh. The entire psy-changling series is on my go-to list of re-reads.
Enjoy Em & Con’s story from the beginning with THE HURRICANE, available now in e-book and coming to trade paperback February 2, 2016!
Emily McCarthy is living in fear of a dark and dangerous past. A gifted mathematician, she is little more than a hollow, broken shell, trying desperately to make ends meet long enough to finish her degree. Through an unlikely friendship with the aging, cantankerous owner of an old boxing gym, Em is thrown into the path of the most dangerous man that she has ever met.
Cormac "the Hurricane" O'Connell is cut, tattooed and dangerous. He is a lethal weapon with no safety and everyone is waiting for the misfire. He's never been knocked out before, but when he meets Em he falls, HARD. Unlike any other girl he's ever met, she doesn't want anything from him. Just being around her makes him want to be a better person. They are polar opposites who were never meant to find each other, but some things are just worth the fight.
