I watch him watching us, imagining how he would take me.
I send him the message with my eyes.
This is who I am.
I am Veronica Franco.
I am a COURTESAN.
I court the cultural elite for fame and fortune, giving my body to many.
And I’m good. So very good. After all, I was taught by my mother, and mother always knows best.
How else to please the future King of France than with the imaginative use of Murano glass? How else to fulfil the desires of all yet keep my sense of self-worth?
But when disaster strikes and my life begins to unravel, I’ll have to ask myself one question:
Is it too late to give my heart to just one man?
Set in Venice 16th Century.
Advisory: sensuously erotic. 18+
This Girl Loves Books had the pleasure of interviewing Siobhan Daiko :)
Describe your writing style in three words…….
Succinct, Sensuous, sensual
Which is your favourite chapter that you have written and why?
The chapter in my novella Veronica COURTESAN coming out on June 21st, when my heroine, Veronica, manages to convince her lover that she cannot be owned by anyone.
What has been your toughest criticism given to you as an author? What has been your best compliment?
Toughest criticism when I started writing was that my characters didn't come alive enough. Hopefully, I've overcome that now. Best compliment recently, from an ARC review on Amazon: Daiko's strength lies in her ability to conjure up the time period with Veronica's mesmerizing voice. The courtesan's cadence and mindset coalesce well to suggest a formidable woman who does not fear enjoyment on a sensual level; one can almost see her winking suggestively at the reader when she describes one of her bawdy romps.
Is there a message in your novel/novels that you want your reader to grasp?
My new series of erotic novellas featuring historic courtesans delivers the message that strong women could hold their own in a man's world.
What advice would you give to aspiring authors?
Join a writers' group or online peer review site. Getting and giving feedback is the best way to improve.
If you were a superhero, what would you want your powers to be?
Oooh! So many to choose from. I'd love to time-travel but would prefer to be invisible while doing it. The past was a dangerous place...
If you could meet one of your own characters who would it be and why?
Luca, in my novel Lady of Asolo. Stong, caring, sexy. A really lovely man.
What’s your idea of happiness?
Sitting by the pool in a warn climate under an umbrella with my laptop to write on, a glass of chilled Prosecco to sip from, and a doting man to serve my every whim. Well, a girl can dream, can't she?
What question have you always wanted to be asked? How would you answer it?
We'll offer you a six figure sum to publish one of your books. How about it? YES!!!!!
Hard or Soft? Hard.
Early bird or Night owl? Night owl.
Coffee and Tea? Coffee.
Right handed or Left handed? Right handed.
Cake or Cookies? CAKE (Chocolate, preferably).
