Tell us your latest news? I'm currently working on the second standalone in my Cape Isle series titled Damaged Pieces (Cape Isle, #2). Also, I will be a signing author at the Richmond Readers Rehab event on April 30th in Richmond, Virginia.
What genre do you write? I write contemporary romance. My current standalone series is military romance.
Describe your writing style in three words……. Sexy, fun, and dramatic.
What inspired you to write your first book? I thought about my plot for about six months before I ever put anything down on paper. It took another four months, before I actually started writing. The book changed a lot over time, but the original plot first came to me one day when I was laying on a beach. I have never been a victim of domestic violence, but as a child I witnessed it happening often, I have seen the scared and broken expression on someone's face after they have lived through hell.
Have you always wanted to be a writer? Yes. I am an only child, so when I was bored, I would write. I can't remember a time I didn't have my trusty pen and my notebook close to me. Of course my stories have evolved a lot since then, but I will always be thankful to the person who handed me a journal and encouraged my love of words.
Which is your favourite chapter that you have written and why? Hmm.. That's a hard one. There are so many, but I would have to say my favorite so far would have to be the Epilogue from Scattered Pieces. I am a sucker for happy ever afters and the end of this book was so bittersweet for me.
Is there a message in your novel/novels that you want your reader to grasp? Yes. In Scattered Pieces there were some hard scenes for me to write. Domestic Violence is a tough subject. I wanted to write a book showing you that something beautiful can come after something so ugly. I hope I succeeded in creating a book that can be fun in some parts, while also dealing with a difficult subject.
Damaged Pieces (Cape Isle, #2) tells the story of Nick and Katie. It also has some very difficult scenes. I don't want to give too much away, but in this book we are dealing with a wounded Veteran.
What advice would you give to aspiring authors? Write Write Write! You can't edit a blank page. Even when you don't feel in the mood, push yourself to at least put something down on paper everyday. It will be so worth it in the end. Write like no one will ever see it!
Do you have a blog/website? Yes. I don't really blog, but I am trying to be more active on my website.
If so what is it? www.authorallieable.com
Do you read and respond to your reviews? I read every single review and I check them daily! I appreciate every single one, but I choose not to respond. I want people to feel free to say whatever they would like in their reviews. I don't mind constructive criticism. I have been fortunate enough not to have a bad review, yet, but I know I one day will.
What question have you always wanted to be asked? How would you answer it? I don't really know.. I'm a pretty private person, but I'm actually really boring. Without sounding mean, I do like it when people ask my real name (I write under a pen name). I always feel like I have a dirty little secret when I just laugh instead of answering them.
I posted this question on my author profile and I had a reader ask, “Are my characters based on anyone I know?”
I don't want to give too much away, but yes, some of my characters are loosely based on people I have met or known.
Hard or Soft? Hard. Lol.
Early bird or Night owl? A little of both, depending on my mood, but mostly I'm an early bird.
Coffee and Tea? Coffee!!
Right handed or Left handed? Right handed.
Cake or Cookies? Cookies (Peanut butter cookies to be exact).
Chocolate or Vanilla? Vanilla.
